1896

The earliest record I can find in a revenue catalogue for this issue is Morley's 1910. This is NOT a new series of these stamps it is just new pins in the perforating machine which left a slightly larger hole than the old pins, not all values have been recorded as having the larger pin separation probably due to the fact plenty of old stock was on hand.

Larger holes from new pins.

This new series inscribed 'POSTAGE' [derived by the removal of 'POSTAGE & REVENUE'] was issued a couple months prior to the rescinded date of 24.10.1902 when the below Edward VIII purpose revenue only series was made available. The listed 6 values above were all issued prior to 24.10.02 with other values in this series issued after 24.10.02

All the above issues were available for revenue purposes between 6.12.1886 & 24.10.1902

Footnote: After discussions [Jan 2019] with Barefoot Ltd UK, the number 1. 1d listed above found with Inverted frame is somewhat a problematic stamp as far as we know it is only known mint, and may therefore be printers waste that escaped. Both Barefoot Ltd and the author try to look at a long-term balanced picture, while some get hyper-excited about news-worthy unusual happenings and fancy prices apparently achieved at auction. Recorded sales, from $200.00 each to many thousands of dollars, In the 2019 Barefoot Commonwealth Catalogue this inverted frame is priced at £500.00.
